MEETING LOCATION
Urban Chestnut's second facility, the Grove Brewery & Bierhall (formerly a paper company built in the 1920's), opened in February 2014. Located in St. Louis' Grove neighborhood, Urban Chestnut utilizes this brewery as the source of most of their beer production and packaging. Its large, industrial bierhall and European-inspired cuisine is designed to celebrate the modern day growth of American craft beer.
REGISTRATION
Registration begins on September 1, 2024 and is open to any brewery operating (or planning to operate) in Missouri, as well as any industry-adjacent supplier or retailer.
Preregistration is requested. Cost per person is $80 ($70 early bird) for MCBG members, and $100 for those who are not MCBG members. Registration costs include all the sessions, food, beer, and entertainment. Deadline to register is Friday, October 25 by midnight.

Keynote Speaker: Fred Matt, FX Matt Brewing Fred Matt is the President/CEO of the F.X. Matt Brewing Company, the oldest Brewery in the State of New York and third-oldest Brewery in the United States. Fred is the fourth generation of the Matt Family to serve the Company. As a key member of the management team, he has been successful in leading the Brewery into new areas of growth with its company brands, as well as diversifying the company by growing its contract production business. Fred has successfully rebuilt the sales and marketing organization in order to support the growth of the company brands and overseen a +$56M investment project, including the addition of a new brewhouse, tank farm, and a second can line. Fred will share his experiences within in the industry and how to weather this current market. 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

BREAKOUT SESSION 1 Where’s the Profit? How to (Actually) Make Money Selling Your Beer in 2024 presented by Chris Farmand, Small Batch Standard. It isn’t 2015 anymore. As the craft industry has plateaued, running a profitable brewery has become more and more challenging each year. This presentation will provide craft business owners a deep dive to understand why this is and, more importantly, the strategic changes owners need to make in order to sell the right beer, to the right consumers, at the right margins, to generate cash and finally get ahead. 2:00 - 2:45 p.m.
BIERHALL SESSION 2 Future of the Industry presented by Matt Gacioch, Staff Economist at the Brewers Association. Get the low down on what trends the Brewers Association is tracking and how to put the most recent data collected to work for your brewery. BREAKOUT SESSION 2 Beyond Bingo: Crafting Unique Events to Revitalize Taproom Traffic presented by Bryant Vander Weerd, Full Pour Media. Taproom attendance is in decline, with customers drinking less and finding new ways to spend their time and money. BIERHALL SESSION 3 Clean Up Your Act! Safe and Effective CIP Practices presented by Mark Jaeggi, Sabhailteacht Solutions, LLC. Cleaning in Place (CIP) is an essential component of the brewing process that allows us to thoroughly clean interior surfaces of our equipment without major disassembly. CIP involves corrosive chemicals and extreme temperatures, so join this session and learn how to CIP safely! BREAKOUT SESSION 3 Designing an Effective Wholesale Strategy, presented by Ben Lewellyn, Full Count Analytics. What does winning in the market look like for your brewery? Knowing that answer is what divides the most successful wholesale operations from the rest of the competition, and yet so few companies take the time to do it. I’ll teach you a method for answering that question in plain English and tracking your performance with intuitive metrics. Between the current research and development capitalization requirements, the phaseout of accelerated depreciation on equipment purchases, and other brewery tax credits that are generally overlooked, the opportunity for breweries to plan, save, and grow is now.
